Sita has been teaching for 15+ years in various local Waldorf schools and early childhood development centers. Her greatest joy and life's work is creating "home," one filled with the essential healing elements of healthy daily rhythms, cleanliness, good nutrition, movement, play, sleep and warmth, which all nurture the growing child. She has found that by seeing and observing children, especially during this golden age of childhood, is where truth and love resides.
Jamie Hennessey is honored to have the opportunity to assist in the Hummingbird Nursery. She is currently enrolled in the Waldorf teacher training at the Micha-el Institute. Jamie holds a Bachelors degree in Anthropology and Religious Studies. She has prior work experience in environmental restoration and educating children in Environmental Sciences, both in the field and in classroom settings. She was first drawn to Waldorf education in 2007 when she was expecting her first child. Jamie spent several years engaged in self-directed study in preparation to homeschool her two children using Waldorf pedagogy. Her children now attend The Portland Village School, a public Waldorf charter school, freeing Jamie up to continue her studies and to teach.
"Children who live in an atmosphere of love and warmth, and who have around them truly good examples to imitate, are living in their proper element." (Rudolf Steiner, The Education of the Child)
